I'd seen images of rainbow-like, technicoloured objects before, but never known how to go about creating photographs myself. That is until I stumbled across the Photo Extremist's website.This Photo Extremist guy has a lot of tutorials and tips for anyone wanting to have a go at something a bit different - I highly recommend visiting his site.
I followed his instructions for making photoelasticity birefringence photographs and these 3 images are some of my results.
