Alison Moyet Gig

Went to see the fantastic Alison Moyet at St David's Hall in Cardiff.
The concert was part of "The Minutes" tour and featured songs from the latest album (The Minutes) as well as re-workings of some of Alf's past hits - "Is This Love?" was a particularly memorable and beautiful moment.

I highly recommend going to see Alison Moyet if you can. She has always been one of my most favourite female vocalists and I was a huge Yazoo fan back in the 80s.
It was definitely one of the best concerts I've ever been to, and I've been to quite a few over the years.

The images on this post are some photographs I managed to take on the night, although I was enjoying the concert too much to spend more than a few minutes taking photos.

Right, I'm off to listen to The Minutes, again :)

Plastic Fantastic! (photoelasticity birefringence)

I'd seen images of rainbow-like, technicoloured objects before, but never known how to go about creating photographs myself. That is until I stumbled across the Photo Extremist's website.

This Photo Extremist guy has a lot of tutorials and tips for anyone wanting to have a go at something a bit different - I highly recommend visiting his site.

I followed his instructions for making photoelasticity birefringence photographs and these 3 images are some of my results.

If you go down to the woods today...

Went on a trip to the woods with Ianto, our lovely Lurcher. There are lots of woodland areas in and around London and I haven't been to many of them.

Great Leybourne Wood is situated just between Leybourne and nearby West Malling in Kent where you can find a quiet oasis of calm and tranquillity.

The woods are around 100 acres of ancient and managed woodland bordered on one side by a gently flowing stream and on the other sides by major main roads. Any noise from the roads soon disappears as you walk through the maintained woodland trails that criss cross Leybourne Woods.

Ianto loved it and was on high alert, ears twitching to every rustle and noise.

A word of warning however, if you ever plan to visit there is no car parking. Instead, you will have to find a spot on one of the country roads to leave your vehicle.
